Steintor station is a highly frequented transport hub in Hannover’s city center, connecting urban public transport with regional lines.

Moniteurs optimized wayfinding by consistently positioning elements along passenger flows, creating a logical arrangement of objects and services throughout the travel chain. Additionally, a new, welcoming design language was developed, aligning with ÜSTRA’s current brand identity. The product family and visual appearance were functionally revised and designed for easy comprehension.

The project encompassed both above-ground and underground signage, as well as the design of monitors and maps. The overarching goal was to create a consistently positive experience by optimizing passenger information as a key mobility service. Dynamic and static passenger information seamlessly integrate. Large-scale wayfinding signs at platform entrances and exits are designed in the respective line colors, enabling quick and easy identification of the correct platform.

The new area map is available in dark, light, and e-paper versions. To enhance orientation, platforms are numbered, and exits are labeled with letters. A marked walking radius with distance indications in minutes helps passengers plan their transfer times more efficiently.

New, easy-to-understand pictograms improve orientation and transfers, enabling quick, universal, and barrier-free communication of information.
Large displays show real-time departure times at each platform, along with an area map to assist transferring passengers with orientation. Additionally, ÜSTRA uses the screens for its own advertisements and passenger information.
